Inspiration is a dumb addiction
Quit your addiction to inspiration. It’s all over the internet. It’s cheap and easily available. It’s an empty carb.
Inspiration doesn’t help you do stuff. It just makes you feel good for a moment, then you keep scrolling. Might I ask, has anything changed since you were last inspired?
As much as I love feels and vibes, and as much as I want every day to feel like a Coachella sunset for you, doing stuff is even more important. You have to make stuff, change up your life, put yourself out there, exercise boundaries, exorcise self-hatred, overcome fear of judgment, take up space, stop grinding, and listen to your nervous system — all the delicious stuff!
Doing is important because you are literally changing the architecture of your life and that of others. I need you to write your screenplay, start your business, ask for a raise, take a sabbatical, take a nap, find it within yourself to keep going even when you just can’t even.
Stop being a consumer of inspiration, and start being a creator of really hard stuff.
Learn how to manage the gremlin voices in your head.
Develop an appetite for discomfort, doubt, and dislike.
Figure out how to stop feeling terrible.
Figure out how to still show up even when you don’t feel like it, but in a way that is respectful of your needs and nervous system.
Show up consistently — not perfectly, consistently.
And learn to love yourself unconditionally and fiercely.
